Bygone Era

Old black singer sewing machines are back in fashion. This week has seen a run on them. Reconditioned and re equipped with new motor and foot control, these vintage machines are just the job for a new strain of customer.

Male D.I.Y. enthusiasts (whose hobbies include making tents, canvas bags, and re upholstering collectors cars,) have rediscovered the straight stitch singer which with the correct needle laughs at the difficult sewing jobs.

The engineering of these machines is timeless and much appreciated by our increasing number of enthusiasts, some start off a little shy (after all this would traditionally be seen as a female domain) but as soon as it is clear that there is no prejudice of any kind at Lestans, we share their tales of achievement.
